Time 02:58
time, will there ever be enough time? will there ever be enough time? no, there will never be enough time. it sounds harsh, but it's not like it's something you didn't know. just take those hands, and you'll have no choice but to move forward. no matter what you left behind. life, will i ever live a full life? will i ever live a full life? how can i ever life a full life? when they stick their guns into my back and then they tell me. to walk the plank that's straight and laid out right in front of me. no matter what i left behind. we're all just doing time. for the man who's sitting in that big leather chair, counting all of his gold coins there. he laughs at us when we say "life's not fair." but, hey, who's sitting in that big leather chair when everything he owns disappears? he now says "life's not fair." i get the feeling someone is watching every move i make raise the debt ceiling and tax the people for every dollar they make for every dollar we make! life, will i ever live a full life? will i ever live a full life? how can i ever life a full life? time, will there ever be enough time? will there ever be enough time? no there will never be enough time.

open up your eyes he's not coming home why do you look so surprised? he left yesterday for a new life silent words, scratched them on a note "i might regret this, but i've got to try." no, i can't say that i've been there before, but i know now that i've never loved you more. you got to believe what i'm telling you. someday you'll be free from what you're going through. though, i may not know how you feel, someday you'll be fine, 'cause life's a spinning wheel. in search of better days, his kids cried "when's daddy coming home?" she stayed silent; she had nothing to say. but now his wife and kids have moved on. there's nothing better out there and he wished he had known. "goddamn this life. now i'm all alone." no, i can't say that i've been there before, but i know now that i've never loved you more. you got to believe what i'm telling you. someday you'll be free from what you're going through. though, i may not know how you feel, someday you'll be fine, 'cause life's a spinning wheel.

Brothers 04:17
last night we were bonding over drinks you told me the way you feel and how you think i just listened and watched as you cried thanks to you, i was no longer on the outside. because in the end you'd like to say, you meant to live your life that way. today is tomorrow in disguise you're only the person that you describe what can be real, when everything else is fake just tell yourself things will be ok after you wake. because in the end you'd like to say, you meant to live your life that way. so i sang a song sang a lullaby, and hushed you to sleep. gave you my shoulder when you started, you started to weep. i was there for you like you'd be there for me because i'm your brother, i'm your family. because in the end you'd like to say, you meant to live your life that way. i'll be there for you like you'd be there for me because i'm your brother, i'm your family.

i saw your face, and it showed me. you really meant it when you said, you'd like to get to know me. you said you haven't found your place, so you've been following me on a crazy chase. losing breath and trying to keep pace. see there's a friend of mine he worries all of the time he never stands alone but i'm telling him that's the only way to grow. see there's a friend of mine he worries all of the time he never gets to sleep yeah, he's just looking for that one thing he can keep. but if you only knew how she really feels about you then maybe you wouldn't act so afraid when she's walking your way stand up boy, and look her in the face. because you're a friend of mine don't worry all the time you got to stand alone 'cause that's the only way that you are going to grow.
5.
Human Shell 02:10
it's a human shell on it's way to hell without a soul searching for a bag of gold. but what can you find when your eyes are blind? just follow me to safety i want you to open up your eyes 'cause everyone but you sees how lucky you are.
6.
Stay Asleep 02:29
i've been awaken from too many dreams i dropped my ball and bat when i was just a teen i've laid all my paychecks and diplomas at his feet and now, with this guitar in my hand and these words in my mouth i'm fighting to stay asleep. because i know not every star can be born i was on my way and someone else pressed abort. and now i'm waking up into a world where i only dream of the next holiday or lunch break and i'm convinced that i'm happy making these ends meet although i've never really felt complete, i've learned how to show my teeth even when things suck. because i know not every star can be born because i was on my way and someone else pressed abort yeah someone else pressed abort.
7.
Home 01:40
now, i just want to go home.
8.
what is going on? i see a father and his son i thought there was supposed to be another one. but if i say "i don't believe" in what's not there then who exactly am i talking to? i'd rather believe in the wind see, i can see where that's been and though it may destroy something it doesn't make us pay for sin. so, when we die i'll say "amen, and oh well" 'cause there isn't a human on this earth that deserves hell. no, no, no, no, no see i just believe in what's right here can't stand to live my life in fear but there are always a few men trying to say the end is near. but no one knows, because every book they try to scan, has been written by their own hand. so you see what they want you to and with tears in your eyes you cry the blues thinking back to grade school when they said "there isn't anything you can't do" but as you grow, they take back all of your dreams and sell them to the next wide-eyed teen and say man just focus on making these ends meet. even if it's not where you wanted to be, but like every good human being you'll start to see the light while walking in the straight line. cause if you don't, you'll probably end up sick or dead so assimilate or lose your head. even if it's not where you wanted to be.
9.
Commit 01:52
It's better to commit and regret, than to regret not committing. (that's what you said to me)
10.
come on in we've been waiting for someone like you to show your face. there's nothing left for those who aren't patient but you are, yeah you've waited your turn. now tell us, what do you think you deserve. do you want a new car? or how about a brand new house we built on top of a farm? welcome to the "good life" where we tread on everyone else and don't think twice. now that you're here how do you feel? thankful for the bread though it's bitter taste resonates inside the back of your head. but really, what did you expect when you signed your name and you said "yes" to the life you'd eventually regret. now, you have the new car to park at the brand new house we built on top of a farm living the good life where we tread on everyone else and don't think twice.

Green Shirt 05:24
hey you with that green shirt on, what was your name again? i want to tell you some more lies and see how you handle them. but what would your family think? and what would your friends say? if they knew you believed in me and what i said on that day. you said you'd be here soon, and five years later i'm still waiting. pinching pennies for food, and you said you'd take care of me. now, what am i supposed to do with all of these hidden day dreams? i wish i never fell for all those lies that you sold to me. hey you with that sad face on, what are you crying for? is it cause the life you've been leading has left you wanting more? but what would your family say? and what would those friends do? if they found out about all those lies, that i had been telling you? never mind what doesn't matter in this old life. i'm growing up and leaving my dreams behind. because no past ambitions could leave me more fortunate than i am right now. as i sit here in my house. with my family and friends and the love of my dreams, i never could've envisioned this type of fulfilled happiness. no, i'm not alone or an unsuccessful man. i must have done something right to be blessed with this life. so, i don't need all of that money or fame that you've been trying to sell me since i was a child with a dream. so you with that shirt and tie, fuck you and your senseless lies. 'cause everyone on this earth will die leaving everything behind.

about

Night Windows is a project started by Benjamin Hughes. His self- engineered/produced album (Musicassette/Magnetic Memory) was crafted from the perspective of a young man facing a reality far different from the one promised him in his youth.

A 26 year-old with a bachelor's degree worth of debt and a series of unrelated day jobs to pay it back, Hughes is a poster boy for the bursted-bubble millennial generation. He sings about being part of a downtrodden blue-collar work force, helping loved ones through hard times, and clinging desperately to his musician dreams which ebb to the margins of his days. With his acoustic guitar, a hand-me-down drum kit, and an array of gritty lo-fi instruments and effects, Hughes shaped this seamless 12-track debut album in his bedroom.

about

Night Windows New Jersey

Where do I go from here? Everyone is getting older. I’m losing people both to death and life. I’ve written about the sadness that comes with the gift of life, but never like this. This time, I leaned as hard into the sadness as necessary in order to feel better.
